NASI GORENG CUMI HITAM

Nasi goreng cumi, or squid fried rice, is a delightful variation of the traditional Indonesian fried rice dish. Here's a recipe to make nasi goreng cumi:

Nasi Goreng Cumi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably leftover and cooled)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 200g squid, cleaned and sliced into rings
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (such as carrots, peas, and bell peppers), finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon shrimp paste (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced cucumber and tomato, for garnish
  • Fried shallots, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and chopped onion. Sauté until fragrant and the onion turns translucent.
  3. Add sliced squid to the pan. Stir-fry until the squid is cooked through, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Push the squid to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the empty side. Scramble the eggs until they are cooked.
  5. Mix the cooked eggs with the squid in the pan.
  6. Add the mixed vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.
  7. Add the cooked rice to the pan. Break up any clumps and stir-fry with the other ingredients.
  8. Drizzle sweet soy sauce and regular soy sauce over the rice. Add shrimp paste if using. Mix well to ensure the rice is evenly coated.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Continue to stir-fry until everything is heated through and well combined.
  11. Garnish with sliced cucumber, tomato, and fried shallots.
  12. Serve hot with lime wedges on the side.

Enjoy your flavorful nasi goreng cumi! Adjust the recipe according to your taste preferences, and feel free to add other ingredients like shrimp, tofu, or additional vegetables.
